FIND A JOB....

Only if finding a job was as easy as pressing a keyboard button...LOL!  Instead I find myself consumed with countless hours of http://www.indeed.com, http://www.monster.com, http://www.theladders.comand municipality business searches.  With technological advances at it's presumed highest you would think that registering for one particular site then locating and applying for a position the "required application fields" would auto-populate.  NO!  Instead you type your professional information over and over and over all the while thinking to yourself WHY WON'T THIS SITE ALLOW YOU TO COPY/PASTE?  And, WHY if I upload my resume in the required FORMAT doesn't the information auto-populate....THEN....the phone rings and you answer with excitement that a potential employer is responding to an application you've submitted...and...NO!  Instead it's a telemarketer claiming you've requested information from either returning to college or working from home....REALLY!?!?!  Employer's think that internet searches are the new wave of hiring - myself I think that the candidates that are worth your while to actually interview are seeking gainful employment through good old fashion "who do you know" because these websites are nerve-racking!!  Still I continue to perform the searches - retype all of my professional experiences - and click "apply now"....meanwhile I stay double-time busy cleaning house, doing laundry, and preparing dinner (which anyone who knows me knows this is NOT my cup of tea).  I will beat the odds!  I will land the most perfect position on the face of the earth!  It will be the best job I've ever had in my life because someone out there is waiting ON ME to join their team and be all (or more) than they want me to be...

Until then I pray, apply, and pray...

  1. I agree with you 100% Finding a job online sounds like the easiest and most efficient way to do it. But it's anything but easy and efficient. To make matters a bazillion times worse, a huge number of companies are demanding that you apply online. You don't even get the opportunity to plead your case with an actual person. If a place like Wal-Mart or HomeDepot were to look at my resume they'd think I was way overqualified & I'd never get a job. But if I were able to talk to a real live person, I might be able to convince them that working in their store was exactly what I wanted to do. Sucks but it is what it is.
